Objectives

1. Demonstrate your ability to write a complete family practice note.
2. Demonstrate your understanding of the concept of a focused physical exam.
3. Demonstrate your knowledge about the management of chronic illness or the preventive physical exam of an adult or child.
4. Introduction to ICD-9 codes.
5. Introduction to E & M Billing codes and the differences between levels of service
6. Understand and order appropriate lab tests, formalize an assessment and plan and code for the encounter. It is necessary for you to list the ICD-9 codes as well as compute the E/M code for billing the encounter.
7. Demonstrate the use of evidence in describing the treatment plan and rationale for ordering tests.
8. Discuss pretest/posttest probability and use of number needed to treat (NNT.)
