Weather-related closings

For all students, if Clinical Campus closes for weather (a very rare event) on your primary care day, you do not need to attend your FP office hours.

For students assigned to FP preceptors in the Triple Cities area (Binghamton, Johnson City, and Endicott), if Clinical Campus is open, you do need to attend your FP office hours.

The situation is a bit more complex for those students assigned to outlying offices, where the weather might be significantly different from the weather in the Triple Cities. If you are assigned to one of these locations, in addition to listening for Clinical Campus closings, you should also listen for closings of the local school district. These are announced repeatedly in the media. If the school district encompassing your primary care office is closed for a snow day, you do not need to attend your FP office hours, even if Clinical Campus as a whole is open. Furthermore, if the school district encompassing your office has ``early dismissal'' (usually meaning around 1100 hr or so) then you do not need to attend your office hours that afternoon. Lastly, if the school district encompassing your primary care office has a delayed opening, you do need to attend your office hours that afternoon.

School district and Clinical Campus weather-related closings are announced on all major local radio and television stations. These announcements can also be found on any radio or television station website. I will place links to some of these links on Blackboard. In addition, NewsChannel 34 offers a paging service. Via their website, you can register to receive alphanumeric text messages about your school district's closings via your cellular phone, if it has text messaging capability. If you choose, you can register for both Clinical Campus, and your FP office's school district.

Table 3 shows the ``outlying'' preceptor sites, and their corresponding school districts. To repeat, weather-related school closings are only relevant for those students whose preceptor sites are listed in Table 1.
