As a step toward accomplishing this mission, you will spend time on a
variety of rotations. These rotations are not infomercials or
recruiting tools. No doubt you will like some rotations and dislike
others. But irrespective of your ultimate specialty choice, there are
important things about patient care that you need to learn from
surgeons, internists, psychiatrists, radiologists, pediatricians,
family physicians, and from all your other faculty. There are also
transcendent skills, skills that cross the artificial boundaries that
we erect between specialties. These are the skills of doctoring, and
these will be the focus of this course.
